이재열의 화면 속에서 산은 지평선을 넘어 솟아오르고, 안개는 고요한 물 위에 머물며, 눈에 보이지 않는 존재들이 조용히 풍경을 채운다. 그것은 단순한 자연의 재현이 아니라, 고요 자체가 살아 움직이는 꿈의 산수이다.

그의 작품 속 ‘수호자’들은 영웅적이거나 신화적인 존재가 아니다. 오히려 씨앗이 고래나 곤충으로 변모하고, 구름이 형체를 이루며, 나무가 바람과 호흡하는 미묘한 존재들이다. 현실과 상상의 경계 사이에 머물며, 고요가 결코 공허가 아니라 끊임없는 변화를 품은 터전임을 일깨운다.
